Bonnie M. Resch
Executive Director-Fox Valley Clinical
Research Center
After more than twenty years as a licensed Registered Nurse in the acute cardiovascular setting, Bonnie has pursued her interests and belief in the importance of preventive cardiovascular health. Her years spent in coronary intensive care, cardiac catheterization lab and cardiac rehab taught her the importance of quality emergency cardiac care. But, her belief in the old adage, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” motivated her to pursue her interest in proactive, preventive healthcare.
In 1998 she receive a Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Management. She used her nursing background and management skills to develop a telephonic outpatient Congestive Heart Failure program for a leading healthcare network. She soon learned that keeping patients out of the hospital correlated to their level of access to healthcare providers and knowledge of their ability to manage their disease.
In late 1998, Bonnie joined Fox Valley Cardiovascular Consultants to develop their Disease Management programs. Within the year, she had developed and implemented one of the first successful Anti-coagulation and Cholesterol Management programs in the Fox Valley area. She became a member of the Lipid Nurse Task Force in 1999 and continues to counsel patients on high cholesterol and life style modification.
In her quest to provide preventive, innovative and cost effective options for Fox Valley Cardiovascular patients, she developed a Clinical Research program. In 2002, Bonnie received ACRP certification as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator. In 2004 she became Executive Director of Fox Valley Clinical Research Center. The Center conducts clinical trials in many areas and hopes to provide further clinical research access to women's health areas. “Research has been a wonderful opportunity for many patients. It gives them access to treatments not yet available and many times free health evaluation and medication. More importantly it makes patients accountable and proactive in their own healthcare.” Fox Valley Clinical Research Center is located in the Rush Copley Heart Institute.
